Welcome to kindergarten! I am so excited to have your child in my class this year. We are going to have a fabulous year of learning and growing together. I am looking forward to getting to know your child and your family. Heritage Elementary is such an awesome place for kids to be. I know you’ll love this school as much as I do!

I graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I have been a part of the GCISD family for 22 years. I began my career as a student teacher at Glenhope Elementary the year that it opened. I taught third grade for 5 years and taught kindergarten at Glenhope for 14 years. This is my third year at Heritage. I love being a part of the Heritage family and I am thrilled to begin a new school year!

I have had the privilege of working at the district level writing curriculum in the areas of both math and language arts. Six years ago I had the privilege of visiting Boghall Primary, a GCISD sister school in Scotland. I enjoyed seeing the work that they are doing and interacting with the students and staff. Throughout the year, my students had the chance to participate in video chats with the children in Mrs. Coutts' class in Scotland, and I plan on continuing these classroom chats again this year.

In my spare time I enjoy gardening, cooking, scrapbooking, china painting, and traveling with my family. I am active in my church and also enjoy doing charity work; I am currently serving on the state membership committee of a women's organization that raises money and provides scholarships for women pursuing their education.

Please feel free to contact me about anything throughout the year. My conference time is from 12:10-1:00 daily. If you need to contact me please call the Heritage Elementary office to schedule an appointment or email me at michelle.otto@gcisd.net. Thank you for sharing your child with me! It’s going to be a wonderful year!
